Kentucky Rut Whitetail DeerMost people think that when they see a Whitetail in the rut traveling behind a doe that he has pushed her through first trying to save himself from hunters. However Whitetails during the rut are just following does to attempt breeding. During the rut Whitetail Deer are not very wary of anything except a doe. Whitetail Deer rarely fight antler battles. When Whitetail Deer fight, a Whitetail is normally defending a doe in heat during the rut. Whitetail Deer rarely fight over territory and Whitetail Deer socialize with each other except in the rut. The Deer rut period only lasts two months in October and November peaking in the second week of November in Kentucky.
